My brother broke his leg.

So, my brother broke his leg this week, which really messed up the weekend. This is memorial day weekend, and the family was due to come down and we all have a nice time at the beach. Yea…casts and sand–don’t really go well together. He broke it playing basketball, and then we had to take him to the doctor–thinking he would just need a cast…but no. Of course life isn’t that simple. Why? Because when it rains, it pours. Not only did he need a cast, but he had to have immediate surgery because his foot was too messed up. Ok. So he goes to have the surgery and –OF COURSE– they find something else wrong that wasn’t even on the x-ray…so, now the surgery goes from an estimated hour to five hours. My mom was freaking out, and I was at work. I couldn’t even be there. Now, my brother is stuck in bed. He can’t move by himself. He can’t eat, use the bathroom, or get up by himself. It sucks, because my mother and I have now become his makeshift maids. And BOY is he liking every minute of it!
Today is Sunday, and we woke up late for church. Also, in my brother’s current condition I’m not sure if my mom would have wanted to go through the hassle of everything anyways. But it’s so funny, because I was JUST talking about having a prayer policy, and praying in advance…and I DID. Now, this week, I need those “reserved” prayers. It’s funny how life can be so uplifting and inspiring one week, and then a reality shift changes everything the next. I’m still thankful. I did my pre-crisis prayer already. Now that this has happened, I’m not going to pray for God to fix it. Instead, I’m going to thank him like it’s already done! That’s the way you have to see life.
I know my brother will get through this, and my family will recover financially. (Because let me tell you…surgeries are EXPENSIVE. Thank God for insurance!)
In other news…I made a cake! I love making cakes. It started off as just something I liked to do, but then I became addicted to cakes. Just making them–not eating them. I started going on youtube, just to learn new ways to design things like borders, flowers, swirls…and before I knew if, this became a passion of mine. I could not stop ! I just wanted to give you all a chance to see my cake! Have a lookie! Click on the photos to make them bigger!
